Wherever you are in this Département, the sea and the mountains are never more than an hour's drive away, there is an exceptionally high level of sunshine hours (300 days a year), and if you need to get away from it all, you are guaranteed a change of scene as Italy is so close. It is true that the chic elegance of certain seaside resorts (Cannes, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, etc.) can come at a very high cost. But Alpes-Maritimes offers a good many other resources, what with its seaside resorts, the hinterland and the beaches of the French Riviera.
